THE SILENT AUCTION:
The Silent Auction is our major fundraiser each year, and raises a lot of the money needed to run the non-profit San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop (SMPCW) of Santa Barbara. The event is run by volunteers, namely the parents of children attending the SMPCW preschool! Volunteers start putting it together in November-December and hardly stop for the next 5 months.
WHAT IS SMPCW?
The San Marcos Parent-Child workshop is a licensed, cooperative preschool and parent education class, sponsored by the Continuing Education division of Santa Barbara Community College. It’s a great place for preschoolers AND PARENTS to play and learn!
It is operated by parents under the supervision of Director Lea Blackburn and Assistant Director Diane Gonzalez, educated in Early Childhood Education and Parent Education.
The school is located on the San Marcos High School campus within its own site, and has been there since opening in 1959. We are proud of our long history and recently celebrated our 50th anniversary!
